New stats show pay squeezed as cost-of-living crisis worsens
As budget and council tax setting gets underway at Wiltshire Council today, new statistics show that pay has been squeezed as the cost-of-living crisis worsens.
Responding to new Office for National Statistics figures that show real term (adjusted for inflation) pay has fallen, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Christine Jardine MP said: "People across Wiltshire and up and down the country are facing one of the biggest squeezes on their incomes in a generation. Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Southwest Wiltshire, Ellen Nicholson said "This crisis in the cost of living must be carefully considered by Conservative led Wiltshire Council today in their budget setting and it is only likely to get worse if the Conservatives plough on with their unfair National Insurance tax hike that will clobber families. "If Boris Johnson had any compassion, he'd scrap the tax hike and support those set to be hit hard as the cost-of-living crisis worsens."
