As part of the Wiltshire Year of Reading (#WYOR), Wiltshire Council has arranged a series of events for schools with well known children's authors and illustrators.

The free, virtual events are taking place on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 November and feature Eileen Browne, author of Handa's Surprise; Robert Starling, author and illustrator of Fergal is Fuming; Guy Bass, popular author of laugh out loud series of books Stitch Head and Robert Muchamore, author of Cherub and Robin hood series.

Around 200 primary and secondary schools from across Wiltshire have registered to attend the events.

As part of The Wiltshire Year of Reading, all schools in the county have been invited to sign up to the Wiltshire Reading Awards that encourage reading in each school through a series of activities to tick off along the way to achieve bronze, silver or gold. Early years settings also have a range of books to cover to start children learning from an early age. So far over eighty schools have signed up to the reading awards.
