Wiltshire will be placed into Tier 2 once the lockdown ends, the Government has confirmed today But what does this mean for you?

The announcement that Wiltshire will be placed in Tier 2 at the end of the current Covid-19 lockdown is good news for the shops, restaurants, pubs, cinemas, gyms and hairdressers that will be allowed to re-open on 3^nd December. Schools and nurseries will remain open, but restrictions on the numbers allowed at social gatherings, sports events, weddings and funerals, are still in place.

Home: No mixing with other people indoors apart from your household or bubble but up to six people can meet outside in private gardens or public parks.

Hairdressers/beauty salons: Open.

Pubs and restaurants: Pubs can only open if they serve substantial meals. No household mixing indoors except for business meetings though groups of six can meet outside. Last orders at 10pm but venues open until 11pm.

Shops: All shops can open.

Theatres and cinemas: Open with distancing

Work: Government advice is still to work from home if possible.

Travel: As little as possible and do not travel into Tier 3 unless really necessary.

Education: All nurseries, schools, colleges and universities open.

Hotels: Open.

Overnight stays: Permitted but only within your household or support bubble.

Places of worship: Allowed but people must stick to their own household or support bubble.

Weddings and funerals: No more than 15 guests at weddings, receptions and wakes. Only 30 guests allowed at funerals.

In Westminster, Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson Munira Wilson commented:

"The country is desperate to get life back to normal, particularly given how much has already been sacrificed.

"For months, Liberal Democrats have been urging the Government to get to grips with test, trace and isolate. Getting that right is the best hope we have until a vaccine is ready. Their failure to deliver is why we are where we are.

"Given less than 50% of people understood the rules last time, it is clear the Government has created confusion with their botched communications. In addition to much needed mass testing, Ministers must listen to local authorities and finally start being clear and honest with the public."
