Wiltshire Conservatives confirm Blue Badge charges following 'consultation'

Disabled drivers will soon have to pay to park in disabled spaces following completion of the legal processes. Increased charges in all WC car parks and to season ticket holders will also go ahead, and Castle Coombe car park, which was formerly free, will have charges introduced.

There were 389 responses to the consultation, none of whom were recorded as being in favour. 204 specifically objected to the blue badge charges.

So the score is People of Wiltshire 389, Tories 0. Tories win.

They claim that introducing charges will help disabled drivers by discouraging non-disabled drivers from pinching the spaces, and that if blue badge holders want free parking they can leave their car on a yellow line.
