What a waste: Police & Crime Commissioner re-run to cost you £1.5 Million
Taxpayers will fork out around £1.5million to re-run the botched Police and Crime Commissioner election according to a senior Wiltshire Council source.
The re-run will happen on Thursday 19th August when many residents may be away. The shock news is because the Conservative candidate had a drink driving conviction that by law meant he could NOT be elected as our Police andCrime Commissioner.
But despite this, he had signed a form saying he was eligible to stand. He says he took advice from Tory HQ. Thames Valley Police are now investigating this fiasco. Those responsible for it have serious questions to answer.
The law and the candidate's official form says if you have been convicted of an offence that carries a prison sentence, you cannot stand in this election. We say, residents should have to be told before the vote and those responsible for this mess should pay the £1.5million bill not us, the taxpayers!
If you agree, then please sign our "Make Them Pay" petition below. And remember, when you vote again on 19thAugust, the Lib Dems were the runners up in the first election and can beat the Conservatives. Our experienced and effective candidate, Dr Brian Mathew, is ready to do the job.
