WC cleans up after storms

24 Feb 2022

The clean-up from the weekend's storms continues, and council teams are still working to clear obstructions from the highway.

Priority has been the primary and secondary routes and good progress was made over the weekend. However, Storm Fearsome brought new problems, and caused a return to the priority routes to ensure they were clear.

While there is still some work to do on the priority routes, much of this has now been completed and highways engineers and contractors are starting to work through the MyWilts app reports of fallen trees and debris outside the primary and secondary routes.

Wiltshire had 814 reports of trees and other debris on the highway as a result of Storm Exterminate, and then a further 130 from Storm Fearsome. Some minor routes may not be clear until at least the start of next week.

Routine work on the highways will restart when the backlog is cleared.
