Virtual election for the new mayor for Trowbridge

A NEW mayor for Trowbridge is likely to be elected online at the town's annual meeting next Tuesday May 19.

For the first time, the elections of mayor, deputy mayor and council leader, as well as chairs of individual committees, are to take place at a virtual meeting.

The meeting is taking place from 7pm on Tuesday May 19 and will be held online because of the lockdown restrictions on public gatherings

The current deputy mayor, Cllr Peter Fuller (Conservative Party), is the sole nomination for mayor.

The outgoing mayor is Cllr David Cavill.

 

Two councillors, Steve Oldrieve (Liberal Democrat Party) and Geoff Whiffen (Conservative Party), have been nominated for the position of deputy mayor.

Two nominations have been received for the role of council leader. They are Cllr David Cavill (Conservative Party) and Cllr Stewart Palmen (Liberal Democrat Party).
