Trowbridge Town Council Meeting Business 1st September 2020
Another packed Trowbridge Town Council Meeting.
Trowbridge Town Council Toilets proposal for Trowbridge Park was passed this evening and their New Behaviour Policy adopted, in line with councils across the U.K. to ensure both council and residents are protected from abusive and vexatious behaviours.
Why is such a policy needed?
Organisations want to deal with complainants in ways that are open, fair and proportionate. A considered, policy-led approach helps staff to understand clearly what is expected of them, what options for action are available, and who can authorise these actions.
A policy that can be shared with complainants if they start to behave unreasonably can help in managing their expectations and their behaviour, as far as possible, while the substance of their complaint is addressed.

A policy we hope will be rarely used and councillors will be able to request a report quarterly to monitor its usage. The policy passed with with 7-2-0 though It's unfortunate that not all councillors approve of the policies implementation and posted on social media shortly after the meeting ended, calling the implementation of standard local government recommeded guidance used by all colours of councils in the United Kingdom 'insane'.
One wonders why would an elected councillors oppose someting commonly used in councils across the UK?
The local government and social care ombudsman provide the following guidance in line with the new policy.
