Trowbridge Town Council Conservative group splits

The Conservative Trowbridge Town Council group has split in two, with one group breaking away from the other.

The rift has occurred due to just under half the Tory Councillors wishing to distance themselves from the disappointing behaviour of a small minority in the original Conservative group.

The thing that most Councillors want is to be open and inclusive, they are all just members of the public fortunate enough to be elected to represent their communities. They are volunteers, with no financial reward, working for the whole community. But it is surely right to call out Councillors, from whatever party, when they seem to be actively feeding misinformation to the public or when they appear to want to denigrate the council and its employees for apparent personal ambition.

One thing this split has done is to highlight how the vast majority, from all parties, are trying to do their very best for the town by working constructively with Councillors and council staff at all times.

Working together makes trowbridge stronger.
