Trowbridge gains Future High Streets Funding

As part of the Government's Future High Street Fund, Wiltshire has been provisionally awarded £16,347,056 for Trowbridge.

The Future High Streets Fund was launched by the government in December 2018 to help revitalise town centres to ensure they can respond to the ongoing impact of both online shopping and out of town shopping.

The Trowbridge bid focuses on improving connections into the town centre, by bringing more leisure, residential and culture activity into the town centre, making better use of vacant units and accelerating the development of sites in the town centre. The project also aims to deliver a mix of cultural, leisure, and residential opportunities within the town centre.

Trowbridge Town Council leader⁦, Stewart Palmen, ⁩Liberal Democrat town & Wiltshire Council member for Central Ward, Ellen Nicholson, SW Wilts Lib Dems spokesperson have both welcomed the good news of £16.3 million to help transform Trowbridge High Street.

Several people asking what exactly is in the Future High Streets Bid. In reality only a few people withing Wiltshire Council have seen the bid details. Attached are a few parts of the summary presentation but this may have evolved overtime and now with the reduced amount of £16.3 Million (75% of the requested amount) the plans will need changing.

However Trowbridge will be able to achieve a great deal with this funding and there will be public consultation on plans as they are worked out.
