"As polls close I would like to thank all of the South West Wiltshire Liberal Democrat activists and supporters who have worked so hard over the past few months to deliver an energetic and positive campaign with our colleagues across Wiltshire. We have focused on our manifesto and what we can offer local residents in Wiltshire rather than running an essentially negative campaign focused on opponents as other parties sadly have.

"We have been clear that a vote for the Wiltshire Liberal Democrats is a vote to put recovery first, to progress the climate emergency agenda and to spend the next few years tackling serious issues such as housing, mental health, education and traffic. We recognise that there have been hiccups and holdups along the way as is oft the way in any campaign from any party, but we are proud of the campaign and the coherence within our team of activists.

"As we wait now on tenterhooks for results to come in, we should take a moment to recognise how fortunate we are to live in a country where parties can compete freely and fairly for the public's vote. This is a right that we as Liberal Democrats will always campaign for as there are many people around the world who wish they had the same opportunities."
