Taking Back Control
Chippenham Town Council has started putting in place a Neighbourhood Plan.
This will help the people of Chippenham take back control of development in our town. Our plan will develop over the coming year and will help stop opportunist speculative building. So watch out and please respond to consultation. Make sure your voice is heard.
The transfer of responsibility for services from Wiltshire Council to Chippenham Town Council is well under way. This will mean that many of the jobs that W.C. now don't do will be done by our Town Council. These will include Monkton Park, toilets and play areas like the one in Audley Road that has been closed for over 2 years. The problem is that W.C. will not devolve the money to pay for these neglected services. I lay the blame for this at the door of the Conservative government and their Tory friends at W.C. They have run away from their responsibilities to our community.
Policing continues to be overstretched with the Police and Crime Commissioner asking us to stump up another £2 per month per household to pay for another 41 police officers. While I support more police officers we will continue to lobby the short sighted Conservative government for fair and equal funding for Wiltshire Police.
Our Wins:
● The tidying up of the old Bridge Centre site.
● The repair of the fence at Woodlands woods.
● Stopping the Tories Sunday car parking charges plan.
