Parking changes to increase in Wiltshire after long debate

16 Feb 2022

Disappointed that the Conservatives led administration on Wiltshire Council voted down the Lib Dem parking charges amendment.

Increasing parking fees do not help town centres, rather increases drive business towards out of town centres and online shopping.

Laughably the Leader of Wiltshire Council Richard Clewer said the amendment was "economic illiteracy" and "morally bankrupt", ironic as Clewer and colleagues are Conservatives, representing a party full of sleaze, contracts for mates, a political party whose chancellor has just written off billions of Covid fraud, and damningly whose leader, the prime minister is under a police investigation and known to have misled Parliament.

Wiltshire Liberal Democrats trying to minimise the financial impact on Wiltshire residents, struggling with the rising inflation and cost of living crisis, is not 'economic illiteracy' it's showing awareness of the impact of the financial challenges families are currently facing.
