Message from Warminster Fire Station

30 Jul 2022

Yesterday afternoon we attended a section of woodland measuring roughly 40 meters square in Dilton Marsh well alight. This was caused by a camp fire left unattended.

After 4 hours hard work crews from Warminster, Trowbridge, Shaftesbury and Blandford were able bring the fire under control and extinguish it. We are currently still regularly checking in on the area to ensure it does not re-ignite.

Please in this hot dry weather we ask the public not to have camp fires in the middle of dense woodland, the potential damage this can cause to the wildlife and surrounding area can be devastating.

Finally we would like to say a big thankyou and a shout out to a local man Jack who allowed us the use of his 4x4 to ferry crews and equipment until Shaftesbury's off road appliance arrived.
