Wiltshire Liberal Democrats want a 20% discount on council leisure services for our armed services and emergency services personnel who carry either the Defence Discount or Blue Light cards.

The Lib Dems also want these discounts extended also to Wiltshire's looked after children and their nominated carers.

Lib Dem Deputy Leader of the Opposition on Wiltshire Council, Cllr Ruth Hopkinson will propose this motion at Tuesday's full Council meeting, saying

"We all know the incredible work of our armed services and emergency blue light personnel. We saw it at its most extreme in their amazing response to the appalling incidents in Salisbury and Amesbury.

Words of thanks and appreciation are important. We also need to express our thanks in a more practical way.

By offering access to our leisure facilities, at a discount, to card holders and extending this to the young people we look after and their carers, we will encourage both greater use our leisure facilities and improve new user's health. That's a real "win, win" and the best way we can say "thank-you".
