In a photo finish Town Council election, Lib Dem Karyn Perlejewski-Shah fell just 18 votes short of winning.

"Naturally I am disappointed, but I'd like to give a big "thank you" to everyone who voted for me. We got more votes than last time, the only party to do so.

I knew it was going to be very close and hoped I might just do it but it was not to be. I really enjoyed meeting so many residents. It is clear how unhappy we are at the cuts to the Market Place parking, the selling off of our outdoor education centre at Braeside and Devizes being let down.

I did not win but I love our town and will keep fighting for it.

At least this election result makes it clear that here the choice is between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives. I am sure we will all remember that next time", said Karyn Perlejewski-Shah, Lib Dem campaigner for Devizes East.
