Just two weeks to go to polling day

22 Apr 2021

In just over two weeks all voters in Wiltshire will get to elect 98 Councillors to run Wiltshire Council as well as Town, Parish and a new Police & Crime Commissioner.

In the next few days registered voters will receive their postal vote packs for these forthcoming elections

Some of the County's responsibilities include road and pavement maintenance, highways safety, street lighting, education, young and elderly people in care and the fire and rescue service. It is also the flood relief authority. The new Police & Crime Commissioner will help to set the priorities and strategy for policing and tackling crime.

Years of lack of investment in our critical public services have added to the damage to our local services by Covid. Families have suffered disproportionately, economically, physically and mentally from the effects of the pandemic, our children and young people's education has been seriously disrupted and our care system is in crisis. Our ageing transport, road and drainage is holding Wiltshire back and needs rebuilding bringing new investment, jobs and opportunities for business and young people. Our police service needs someone who will fight, for much fairer funding for Wiltshire and prioritise a return to community policing.

We believe that after years in power the Conservatives have run out of steam and are out of touch.

Wiltshire deserves better and needs change.

The Liberal Democrats have an ambitious plan found here The Plan in Full (planforwiltshire.org.uk)

A Council that cares and is greener, fairer and healthier.

We want to see a greater emphasis given to addressing the climate emergency and creating a truly sustainable carbon neutral county. We want to support sustainable businesses and regenerate the rural economy and help to revive and boost town centres to create new jobs and make Wiltshire a hotbed for innovation, We want to ensure that opportunities to improve the health - both physical and mental - of Wiltshire people are followed up.

By voting for change on May 6th we can start work on helping deliver a County that cares and reconnects with its communities and is greener, fairer and healthier.

Postal Vote

We want ensure that Wiltshire is primed to recover from the pandemic and deliver over the next four years a greener, fairer, and healthier county that supports its businesses, cares for its young, older and vulnerable citizens, recognises the important role of carers and works for us all.
