Gradual re-opening of Businesses in Wiltshire
Its great that our pubs, cafes and other businesses are getting ready to open their doors again from Saturday, July 4, but many are still waiting for clear instructions to reopen incl. leisure centres and gyms.
#BusinessWest, the region's chamber of commerce, cautiously welcomed the relaxing of the two meter rule - but stressed that more support would be needed to aid struggling firms.
Managing director Phil Smith said: "These steps will enable more companies to reopen and will be cautiously welcomed by the business community.
Pubs, cafes, restaurants and hotels across England have been closed since late March but they are allowed to re-open on 4 July whilst adhering to social distancing guidance.
As social distancing restrictions will mean less available space, we ask Wiltshire council to invite businesses to submit proposals for additional outdoor seating.
Businesses would usually only be issued a pavement café licence once planning approval had been granted. However, a new temporary 3 month pavement café licence could be issued, after which time, planning approval could be applied for.
