Get Active holiday sport programmes for children this summer
Wiltshire's Get Active programme has sports and activities for young people.
Sports camps this year include athletics, cricket, dance, dodgeball, gymnastics, football and tennis. In addition, there will be multi-sport sessions offering young people a range of sports.
These fun and inclusive camps are open to all abilities, and offer challenges, games, coaching and competitions throughout the week.
Wiltshire Council is also running inclusive sport days for any young person aged 8-19 with a disability. Athletics, basketball and a multi-sport programme are on offer.
In rural areas, the popular Fun in the Sun programme returns to 27 village venues around the county for 90-minute sessions of outdoor games, activities and sports. Delivered at each venue for four weeks, this programme is aimed at people aged five to 11 years old and is free to attend.
Camp Activate will be returning to Devizes and Marlborough leisure centres, offering a range of exciting activities for young people aged five to 14 during the holidays. The sessions are run by qualified staff in line with Ofsted guidelines, with limited places to make sure they are safe. Each week has a different theme, so there is something for everyone at an affordable price.
Another leisure centre-based programme is intensive swimming lessons. They are a great way to introduce your child to swimming, allowing them to gain confidence in the water while developing new skills.
Finally, free swimming for under 16s is available during specific sessions at swimming pools across the county. Young people must register for this programme in advance.
