This will help take pressure off our streets, but now we need free Sunday parking in Old Town too.

TOBY AND STAN backed plans to make Sunday parking free, to boost shops and to ease pressure on resident parking streets. However the Council must now support Old Town traders and residents by doing the same with Old Town car parks.

Cllr Toby Robson has welcomed the announcement that from 7th April Council car parks will be free on a Sunday.

Toby says "Town Centre shops will appreciate the encouragement to shoppers particularly now and hopefully with residents parking not functioning on a Sunday we should see a decline in non residents using our streets for shopping trips."

The change will be cost neutral with a small 10p per hour price increase from Monday to Saturday.

Stan Pajak added "This change won't happen in Old Town and we support the traders campaign for free parking for the first hour in the Old Town car parks."
