Fly-tipping - there is no solution without prosecution

FLY TIPPING IS GOING unpunished by Swindon Council who are not using their powers to 'fine' offenders enough. In addition the FOCUS Team cleaning up rubbish, they want to see more education and more enforcement.
Toby Robson says "We all want to be proud of the streets we live on, we don't want to be faced with big piles of rubbish. We have the terrible situation where the Council will only remove fly tipped waste from public land with waste dumped on private land being the responsibility of the house owner. Amid your Focus team doing clean ups when asked by residents the only real way forward, once education has been tried, is through prosecutions - put simply there is no solution without prosecution."
Fly tipping is a problem not only for Swindon but the country. It is costing the nation an astonishing £58M a year to clean up with over a million fly tipping incidents every year.
