Debate about Trowbridge's Vexatious behaviour policy continues ...
Yet more debate about the vexatious behaviour policy being introduced at Trowbridge Town Council, though quite why it has caused such a furore we're uncertain.
These policies are common in councils run by varying colours of parties across the Country as we're sure local MP Andrew Murrison would be aware.
Indeed in response to a recent post about the introduction of the policy in Trowbridge on a local Warminster group spotted by a local resident (quite why Trowbridge town council issues were on a Warminster site is another puzzle), the SW Wilts Lib Dem spokesperson,

Indeed the Information Commissioners Office has its own section on dealing with vexatious requests, so we're sure they'll point local councillors to their guidance should it be requested.
"The Freedom of Information Act Section 14(1) was designed to give individuals a greater right of access to official information with the intention of making public bodies more transparent and accountable.
Whilst most people exercise this right responsibly, a few may misuse or abuse the Act by submitting requests which are intended to be annoying or disruptive or which have a disproportionate impact on a public authority".
The public will no doubt be aware, the purpose of these policies is to safeguard councils, staff and residents, so Trowbridge is probably a bit late introducing one. Additionally there are separate codes of conduct for officers and for councillors.
