We cannot see why you would take the risk of people not wearing masks and are concerned huge increases in cases will lead to a pingdemic where so many people have to isolate it undermines economic recovery See Really ! (Babergh South Suffolk Liberal Democrats) (southsuffolklibdems.org.uk)

The news Sajid Javid, who has had his two jabs, had contracted the disease after feeling groggy was followed by news that not surprisingly the Prime Minister and Chancellor Rishi Sunak had been pinged by the NHS app given their close contact

Initially Number 10 announced this morning that both the prime minister and Mr Sunak would take advantage of a controversial daily testing pilot scheme to avoid the need for 10 days' quarantine . There was talk of setting up a testing site in No10. The housing minister Robert Jenrick who is often sent out to defend in the indefensible did the media rounds justifying the exception

The decision - at a time when hundreds of thousands are off work after being identified as potential contacts - prompted a furious reaction, described as "Barnard Castle on steroids", by Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey who warned that the initial decision risked "destroying" the Test and Trace system by undermining public willingness to comply with the scheme.

As the wave of fury swelled, the pair dramatically U-turned and said they would isolate after all - just two hours and 38 minutes after announcing they would not.

We had thought that the Prime Minister had no embarrassment threshold. Opaque financial dealings, dodgy PPE deals, ministers infringing the ministerial code, advisors driving for eye tests in the north east. fisherman and Northern Ireland abandoned to get a Brexit deal - nothing seemed to embarrass him

At last his hypocrisy has gone to far and he has had to back down. Being all in it together means ministers really do have to follow their own rules!
