Cross Party Group MPs urge the Prime Minister to publish the long-delayed Russian report

June 16, 2020 7:25 PM

A cross-party group of MPs have written to Prime Minister Johnson urging him to publish a long-delayed report into Russian interference in UK elections.that was finished eight months ago

The report was sent to Johnson in October 2019, but the Prime Minister refused to publish it before the general election.

Indeed a notification was released on 13th December 2019 stating that No 10 approved the release of the intelligence committee's report into Russian interference in the UK *literally the day after* the general election once a new intelligence and security committee was appointed. Yet 6 months on from the general election and still no new intelligence and security committee has been appointed.

Meaning that Eight months on, Johnson's UK government is still yet to release the report. Release the Russia Report

The group of MPs have written to Johnson, warning him that failure to release it "raises serious concerns and questions about the transparency and integrity" of UK democracy.

The letter, organised by the Liberal Democrats, says it'd be "untenable" for the report to stay confidential.
