The Police and Crime Commissioner needs a little helper

June 15, 2018 7:43 AM

Conservative Angus Macpherson was elected as PCC in 2016 on a 25% turnout. Now he's decided he needs an assistant, so is looking for a Deputy PCC. If you want the job you won't need to go through the inconvenience of getting elected - you can just be appointed.

Payment is £18,000 plus expenses for a two-day week. The PCC element of the council tax went up by 7% this year.

Apart from being part-time the job is effectively the same as that of the PCC.

Angus didn't say in his election campaign that he wouldn't be able to do the job without help.

The job description makes it plain that only Conservatives need apply: "The PCC is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. This post is a political appointment, and as such, candidates are expected to share Angus Macpherson's vision and values."

The recruitment pack is at https://www.wiltshire-pcc.gov.uk/article/1572/Get-Involved

Applications close at 5pm on 6 July.
