East Trowbridge - when will the new road open?

January 21, 2016 7:52 PM

Reports in the Wiltshire Times before Christmas said the road from Hilperton via Leap Gate to the West Ashton Road would open within a matter of days. Wiltshire Council had previously mentioned July 2016 as a likely opening date.

So who is right, WT or WC?

The answer lies with Persimmon, who can open the road whenever they like. According to WC WT is just guessing. Persimmon Homes may have hoped to open the road before Christmas but there were too many problems with it so that was not possible. Work is now going on to complete the installation of all the road signs and street lights.

Whilst Persimmon could open the road in an incomplete state they probably won't as they could be liable in the event of an accident.

So the opening will be in or before July but at present we don't have a clue as to the actual date.
