August 24, 2014 9:58 PM

Figures published by West Wiltshire Rail Users Group show a steady increase in the numbers of people using local stations. For example in Trowbridge passenger figures went up from 779,000 in 2012 to 790,000 in 2013. Westbury went from 454,000 to 467,000 and Warminster from 352,000 to 355,000. The introduction of the improved Westbury to Swindon service means figures are likely to increase again in 2014.

WWRUG also report that there should soon be a cafe on Trowbridge station, to be run by Bay Tree Catering Ltd. It will sell newspapers, sandwiches and drinks and could be open in time for Christmas.

The next public meeting of the group in on September 25th, 7.30 at Warminster Civic Centre. Andrew Mellors of First Great Western will talk about 'Maintaining the FGW HST Sprinter fleet for daily service'.
