Trowbridge Park goes to town

July 17, 2013 2:50 PM

Trowbridge Town Park will in future be maintained by Trowbridge Town Council after it was signed over from Wiltshire Council on 12 July.

The two councils signed an agreement last week which will now see the town responsible for the maintenance of the park and any improvements.

John Thomson, cabinet member for communities, said "This is great news for both us and the town council, and means local people will have more of a say in what goes on in the park and how the park is run"

Bob Brice, Leader of Trowbridge Town Council said, "It has been a strategic aim of the Town Council to see The Town Park and other facilities in the town returned to the care of that level of local government most closely related to the people. This demonstrates Localism in its true sense. The Town Council will be making improvements this year, delivering once again for the community."

The Mayor, David Halik said, "It is good to see the Town Council and Wiltshire Council once again working in partnership for Trowbridge. I am pleased to oversee this transfer, returning the Park to its rightful home and look forward to all of the new developments taking place around what will become our Cultural Quarter."
