The chief executive of Wiltshire Council has told council workers to expect more redundancies. The council intends to make cuts of £28million over the next two years and a further £16million in the two years after that.
All departments within the council have been told to cut budgets by 12%.
"These savings ... include, in some areas, reductions in staffing levels and therefore redundancies," said Mr Kerr.
The next round of consultation on 'voluntary' redundancies begins at the end of February, with letters going out to threatened staff on Valentine's Day. Compulsory redundancies will be implemented if not enough 'volunteers' come forward.
