A proposal from 'Safe Care' to change 38 Delamere Road in Trowbridge from residential to office use has been approved by West Wiltshire planning committee.
The scheme had met with opposition from local residents who were concerned mainly about the impact of traffic and parking on the road.
However members of the committee felt satisfied that the scale of the proposed operation was sufficiently small; the available on site parking met the guidelines for a building of this size and there would not be a significant increase in vehicular movements from the current use of the site.
Although there will be no change to the external appearance of the building the inside will be rebuilt to provide training and storage rooms, an office, and a consultation room.
A 50-signature petition objecting to the proposals was received by Wiltshire Council as well as a number of other objections from residents.
The applicants say that there will be no impact on the street as private parking is provided, and that Safe Care carers provide a service to people in their own homes and service users would not visit 38 Delamere Road.
