An application to extend 8 High Street, a detached grade II listed cottage within the Conservation Area of Steeple Ashton, went to the planning committee on Wednesday December 8th.
The Cottage is two stories in height with a raised rear garden. It has an existing single storey rear lean-to extension. To the south east of the site is a two storey detached dwelling which shares the access.
The application sought permission for the demolition of the rear extension and the erection of a two storey replacement. This will have a pitched roof which will cover the sides of the extension. Two roof lights will be inserted into the west roof slope of the extension. It will be constructed from materials to match the existing building.
The parish council and a number of residents objected on the grounds that the extension is too big. A previous application for a smaller extension has already been permitted.
Councillors agreed to permit the application.
