Barton Finch's concept of the Ushers site
Trowbridge's latest supermarket is now open.
According to propertyweek.com research by Experian implies that the new store on the old Ushers bottling plant site will take in £30million per year and have a local market share of 15%. We currently spend over £55m per year in Tesco's and their share could drop from 34% to 27%.
The store has a retail floor area of 28,000 square feet - about half that of the Tesco store across town in County Way.
The shop itself provides 350 new jobs, and if the entire scheme is built out then as well as the Sainsbury's there will be 123 new homes, shops and cafes, a tree-lined public square and pedestrian links to the town centre.

Sainsbury's have applied to have the restriction on delivery times imposed by the council relaxed. At the moment they're not allowed delivery or service vehicles between 11pm and 7am. The condition was imposed to protect local residents from noise and disturbance. If you wish to object to their request the reference number of the application is W/10/02505/S73.
