Wiltshire Council wants to grab more people

September 2, 2010 8:35 AM

WC's Conservative 'cabinet' is concerned that not everyone takes an interest in what they do, so they're spending £54,000 in reaching out to 'hard to reach' groups across the county.

Each of the eighteen area boards will have to spend £3,000 reaching out to a different sector of society, and the different community areas have each been allocated a different set of people to get involved with who are seen by the council as typical of their towns.

So Bradford gets Boaters and Trowbridge gets Teenage Parents. Warminster and Westbury gets Old People - in care homes in Warminster and in their own homes in Westbury.

Melksham for some reason gets 'Everyday People who Currently do Not Participate'. The rural areas in South West Wiltshire get Young People in Rural Areas.

The prize for the scariest Wiltshire town goes to Devizes (Victims of Domestic Violence). Laziest town is Corsham (NEETS), whilst Marlborough is Recently Retired.

People who think Wiltshire Council is Wasting their Money don't get included. Perhaps next time.
